Responsibilities:

  • Manage client workflow and legal services
  • Identify and analyze estate planning and trust administration related issues and recommend and implement solutions
  • Draft, edit and proofread legal documents, including trusts, deeds, and post-death administration documents
  • Support team through all phases of estate planning and trust administration
  • Assist clients with the collection, valuation and distribution of assets
  • Assist in funding of trusts, including preparation of deeds and assignments
  • Perform legal research
  • Prepare client memos and correspondence
  • Communicate regularly with clients verbally and in writing
  • Communicate regularly with Secretary of State, Assessor, Courts and other regulatory bodies
  • Prepare pleadings and manage trust and probate court related matters
  • Prepare business organization documents including operating agreements, minutes, consents, and state filings
  • Ensure electronic files are organized and properly maintained
  • Assist in personnel training

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5 or more years high net worth estate planning and trust administration experience required
  • ABA Approved Paralegal Certificate required
  • Comfortable with fast-paced, deliverable based work model using OKRs, Kanban, agile, and scrum to maximize the client experience
  • California Notary License preferred
  • Experience preparing accountings and estate and gift tax returns
  • Advanced computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Word (including Styles and Tables of Contents), Adobe Acrobat and Excel; knowledge of HotDocs and SmartDraw a plus
  • Courteous, concise and professional verbal, and written communication skills
  • Collaborative spirit that fosters positive team culture without concern for traditional roles
  • Excellent grammar, proofreading and math skills a must

Compensation:
Salary range of $45 to $75 per hour, depending on experience and credentials

Work Model:
Full-time, in-office position

  • Prepare estate, gift and GST tax calculations using Excel or other software
  • Prepare and file estate, gift, and GST tax returns
  • Perform tax research regarding fiduciary income, estate, gift and GST tax
  • Prepare trust accountings
  • Manage client workflow with respect to accountings, estate, gift and GST tax returns
  • Supervise administrative staff with respect to the filing of fiduciary tax returns
  • Stay abreast of estate planning techniques and their tax implications
  • Prepare trust distribution and allocation schedules
  • Prepare client memos and correspondence as necessary
  • Communicate regularly with clients verbally and in writing
  • Communicate with Internal Revenue Service as needed
  • Ensure electronic files are organized and properly maintained
  • Assist in personnel training

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
  • 5 or more years’ experience in a high-net-worth estate planning and trust administration practice required
  • CPA or Master’s in Taxation preferred
  • Ability to prepare fiduciary income tax returns and/or private foundation tax returns a plus
  • Ability to review corporate income tax returns a plus
  • Ability to analyze corporate redemptions, mergers, and other business restructuring a plus
  • Ability to prepare tax analysis for GRAT, CRT, sales to defective trusts, QPRTs, and other similar planning a plus
  • Comfortable with fast-paced, deliverable based work model using OKRs, Kanban, agile, and scrum to maximize the client experience
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required; advanced computer skills with working knowledge of tax preparation software (CCH preferred), Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat preferred
  • Courteous, concise and professional verbal, and written communication skills

  • Excellent grammar, proofreading and math skills a must

Compensation:
Salary range of $65 to $80 per hour, depending on experience and credentials
